Facebook claims: 50% reduction in hate speech over the past 9 months

Following the revelations of the former Facebook product manager about the platform and questioning its performance, the company’s vice president now says that in the past three seasons, disgusting views on Facebook have decreased to 0.05% of the published content, which is equivalent to about 5 published content. The finding has reached every 10,000 cases.

Former Facebook product manager Francis Haugen appeared before the Senate some time ago to expose Facebook’s impact on society. Now Facebook is trying to defend itself, saying that in the past three seasons, divisive and hateful content has dropped by almost 50 percent.

Francis Hagen claims that the company’s services harm young people, cause divisions and undermine democracy. During his revelation session, Facebook was compared several times to tobacco companies, and Haugen spoke of children’s addiction to the company’s platforms.

Facebook is responding to the testimony of Francis Hagen by trying to change this situation. Guy Rosen, the company’s vice president, claims that disgusting views on Facebook have dropped to 0.05 percent of the published content, or about 5 percent of the 10,000 content published.

Rosen believes that focusing on removing content as the only solution is wrong. He says there are other ways to deal with hate speech, and Facebook should make sure of it before deleting any content. This means that care must be taken not to make mistakes in order to avoid mistakenly deleting content and restricting the access of individuals and groups.

In fact, sometimes Facebook may go the wrong way in identifying such content and mistakenly identify some content as disgusting. Such an aggressive removal system may cause more problems.

In his testimony, Francis Hagen claimed that Facebook could only pay attention to a limited amount of offensive content. Hagen says such social networking platforms do not work well enough. He claims that Facebook resists safer algorithms and even minimizes disgusting and divisive interactions.
