Spotify has confirmed that it is testing a new TickTock-inspired feature that includes a vertical feed of music videos for users to optionally like or reject.
The TickTook feature has been replicated by many competing social networks such as Instagram, YouTube, and even Netflix, and now it seems that Spotify is also planning to add it to its platform. Apparently, this feature is now available to some users of the beta version of Spotify on iOS, which adds a new tab called Discover to the menu at the bottom of the app page and between the two options “Home” and “Search”.
Chris Messina was the first to announce the addition of a new feature on Twitter, sharing a video and video of it. He also referred to this feature as the “reduced version” of the TickTock video feed.
He points out in his tweets that after receiving the TestFlight version of Spotify (iOS beta), he came across a new Discover icon at the bottom of the page and clicked on it to enter the video feed. In addition to tapping the heart icon, you can add a piece of music to your favorites list, and the three-point menu next to it also provides song information.
Spotify told TechCrunch in a statement:
“We typically test new features to improve our user experience. Some of these tests are eventually provided to users, while others remain only in the testing phase. “We can not share further details at this time.”
In other words, this feature is in the early stages of development and it is not yet clear that it will be available to all users. Spotify, meanwhile, recently announced plans to acquire the Findaway production and distribution platform to expand its presence in the audiobook market.
